Pathophysiology of Eclampsia

چکیده
Hypertension in pregnancy complicates approximately 7-10% of pregnancies and remains a major cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality [1,2]. Severe pre-eclampsia/eclampsia (generalized convulsions with pre-eclampsia) which occurs in approximately 1-3 in 1000 women is thought to be a terminal progression of pre-eclampsia1 [1]. The maternal mortality rate for eclampsia is 2-3 cases per 10,000 births in Europe and North America and 16-69 cases per 10,000 births in developing countries. 10-15% of direct maternal deaths are associated with preeclampsia annually [2].

Advances in the pathophysiology of pre-eclampsia and related podocyte injury
Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy-specific hypertensive disorder that may lead to serious maternal and fetal complications. It is a multisystem disease that is commonly, but not always, accompanied by proteinuria. Its cause(s) remain unknown, and delivery remains the only definitive treatment. It is increasingly recognized that many pathophysiological processes contribute to this syndrome, with diff...

Background: Pre-eclampsia is characterized by hypertension development and proteinuria during pregnancy. Hypertension disorder is a leading cause of maternal and fetal morbidity and death in worldwide. Although the pathophysiology of hypertension during pregnancy is unclear, but there is consensus that early diagnosis and aggressive treatment is warranted to prevent complicated to both fetus an...
متن کاملAssessment of Correlation Between miR-210 Expression and Pre-Eclampsia Risk: A Meta-Analysis
Background: Pre-eclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy disorder characterized by hypertension and proteinuria. The evidence has suggested that microRNAs (miRs) are associated with pre-eclampsia pathogenesis; however, these results are inconsistent. The aim of this study was to assess the association between miR-210 expression and PE risk. Methods: Previous studies were selected using PubMed, Scopus, ...

Background: Hypertension during pregnancy period along with the presence of protein in the urine, after the 20th weeks of gestation is called preeclampsia (PE). About five percent of all pregnancies are manifested with PE and its exact etiology has still remained unknown. The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) has an important role in the regulation of blood pressure during pregnancy and so pathoph...

The low incidence of preeclampsia, combined with evidence suggesting that there are different subtypes, create unique challenges for researchers studying this syndrome. The Global Pregnancy CoLaboratory recently outlined standardization strategies for preeclampsia studies.1 These guidelines for creating comprehensive and optimal datasets should advance our understanding of the pathophysiology o...
متن کاملPre-eclampsia: pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management
The incidence of pre-eclampsia ranges from 3% to 7% for nulliparas and 1% to 3% for multiparas. Pre-eclampsia is a major cause of maternal mortality and morbidity, preterm birth, perinatal death, and intrauterine growth restriction. Unfortunately, the pathophysiology of this multisystem disorder, characterized by abnormal vascular response to placentation, is still unclear. Despite great polymo...
